OpenAI's ad collector now tracks user activity on other websites through a cookie called __obi, which is linked to ChatGPT accounts.
The __obi cookie is created while users are on ChatGPT and sent to OpenAI when visiting other sites. Companies buying ads on ChatGPT install OpenAI code on their sites, similar to Meta and Google tracking, which sends __obi and browsing data to OpenAI.
